Modern SlaveryStatement
Lucy Cleaners Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Lucy Cleaners to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. Lucy Cleaners operates in the cleaning and facilities sector and recognises its responsibility to uphold and promote human rights for all individuals who may be impacted by our business activities.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Lucy Cleaners maintains a strict zero-tolerance stance towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, debt bondage and exploitation. We are committed to conducting our business ethically and with integrity, ensuring that modern slavery has no place in our organisation or in any part of our supply chain.
All employees, contractors and suppliers are required to act in accordance with this commitment. We will not knowingly engage with or support any business or individual involved in practices that are inconsistent with our zero-tolerance policy. Any breach of this policy may result in termination of contracts or other appropriate corrective action.
Our Supply Chain and Supplier Standards
Lucy Cleaners works with a range of suppliers, including providers of cleaning products, equipment, uniforms and related services. We recognise that some areas of the supply chain may present higher risks, particularly where labour-intensive or low-skilled work is involved.
We expect all suppliers to comply with applicable labour, employment and human rights laws in the jurisdictions where they operate. Our supplier standards require that workers are employed voluntarily, are of legal working age, receive fair pay, work reasonable hours, and are treated with dignity and respect. We also expect suppliers to ensure that their own supply chains are free from modern slavery.
Supplier Audits and Due Diligence
To support our zero-tolerance policy, Lucy Cleaners undertakes proportionate due diligence and audit activities across our supply chain. New suppliers are assessed against ethical criteria that include their policies, practices and track record in managing modern slavery risks.
We reserve the right to conduct audits, either directly or through independent third parties, to verify supplier compliance with our standards. These audits may include site visits, worker interviews and document reviews. Where non-compliance or areas of concern are identified, we engage with the supplier to develop and implement corrective action plans with clear timelines.
If a supplier fails to demonstrate sufficient improvement or refuses to cooperate with our audits or corrective actions, Lucy Cleaners may suspend or terminate the relationship. Our aim is to promote positive change, but we will not compromise our principles or legal obligations.
Reporting Concerns and Channels
Lucy Cleaners encourages an open culture in which concerns about modern slavery or unethical practices can be raised without fear of retaliation. All employees, suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspicion of modern slavery or human trafficking connected to our business or supply chain.
Concerns can be raised through established internal reporting channels, including to line managers, senior management or designated compliance representatives. Reports may be made confidentially, and we will treat all information sensitively and, where appropriate, anonymously. Every report will be reviewed and, where necessary, investigated promptly and thoroughly, with remedial action taken as required.
Training and Awareness
Lucy Cleaners recognises that effective prevention of modern slavery requires awareness and vigilance. We seek to provide relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment and supplier management, with information and training on identifying indicators of modern slavery and how to respond to concerns.
We promote awareness of this statement and our zero-tolerance approach across the organisation so that all colleagues understand their roles and responsibilities in helping to prevent exploitation.
Monitoring, Accountability and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing the implementation of this Modern Slavery Statement rests with the senior management team of Lucy Cleaners. We monitor compliance with our policies and review the effectiveness of our controls and procedures on an ongoing basis.
This statement will be reviewed annually and updated where necessary to reflect changes in legislation, best practice and our business operations. As part of the annual review, we assess the effectiveness of our due diligence, audits, training and reporting mechanisms, and identify opportunities for improvement.
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the leadership of Lucy Cleaners and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and protecting the rights and dignity of all workers connected to our business.
